Commemorating HMS Natal and a new Cromarty Courthouse exhibition

It has been a busy early autumn with a new information board created to commemorate HMS Natal and an exhibition on the Cromarty Merdieval Burgh Community Archaeology dig researched and created for Cromarty Courthouse Museum.
The HMS Natal commemoration in Cromarty on 30th September brought everyone closer to the lives of the 421 people who died when the ship exploded on 30th December 1915. The occasion brought together people
from across the generations to remember the proud link between the Cromarty Firth and the Navy during two World Wars. I designed the information board that now sits close to the harbour, overlooking the firth that was once filled with the Naval fleet. Newhall Smithy made the excellent, and extremely sturdy, stand.
The exhibition for the Courthouse brought together history, archaeology, artefacts and people. The hope is that the six banners successfully convey the excitement of all these aspects, and show people just what a positive experience being part of a community archaeology project is.
