Medieval graveslabs and family memorials

This has been a rewarding year for research writing and design work.
It began in January with the text for the the newly conserved Kirkmichael.
Originally a medieval church, it was later converted to two family mausolea, and in more recent years has been a ruin. Thanks to the dedication and persistence of the Kirkmichael Trust over 15 years they were able to succeed in bringing together all the funding needed for its conservation, and gained permission from Historic Environment Scotland to move eight graveslabs indoors for preservation and display.
I was privileged to be able to write about the history of the building and the fine graveslabs and family memorials on display both inside Kirkmichael and in the surrounding Kirkyard. The building is now open every day - thanks again to the dedication of the hard working volunteers.
